Adarraga
Dear Agustín, First of all I want to thank all of you for your contributions in helping to organise the great Family event in Hernani in July 2008. It is a while since Luchy insisted that I write a little story of my sporting activities, so that it could be included on the Adarraga website. I was initially hesitant as it was difficult for me to express my relationship with sport. I don’t believe that I can be considered a “sportsperson” when compared to you, your father, your brothers and sisters and your sons (not to mention others from the Adarraga clan) people that competed in the same sports with the same conditions and compared their strengths with that of other sportspeople. Mine is something else. I have, along my life, practice a series of activities which are recognised as sport but on the other hand, very few times have I practice hem competitively. The competitiveness wasn’t essential for me. Consequently, my let’s call it, “Sporting Path” has been rather anarchic and more often than not, I practiced without adjusting to acknowledge rules. However, my activities have been an integral part of my life to which I’m very pleased and very indebted to the art of sport. In fact, I would love to keep acting the same way for the rest of my life. I like my sport That you might include in the adarragas website. I was never encouraged to do it as it was difficult for me to relate my activities to yours, who compete in equal conditions to match your efforts with that of other sportsmen in the disciplines acknowledged as sport. Mine is something else. I have, along my life, practised a series of activities which are recognised as sport but on the other side, very few times I practice them competitively. The competitiveness wasn’t essential for me.

more often then not, I practice without adjusting to acknowledged rules.
However, my activities have been an integral part of my life to which I’m
very pleased and very indebted. In fact I would love to keep acting this
way for the rest of my life. I like my sport as I practice it and even
love it more every day. I will send you 2 files; in one I mention the sports that I have practice. In the second, I explain a bit chaotically, I admit, to how my sporting life has developed Well, we’ll be in touch. If you have a chance, give to your son Austin a big hug. Also I met Xavier once, here in Madrid, and I owe him a dinner. Un fuerte abrazo, José. Links:
