¡¡¡Ricardo Adarraga first Spanish skier to pass the mythical barrier of 200 km/h!!!

On 29 April 2005 “Pro Mondial” Cup of ski speed in Les Arcs, Ricardo Adarraga reached 205,25 km/h, a new official record of ski speed ("Kilometro Lanzado") of Spain (FSV)  ->
Results. Half an hour later, Ricardo Adarraga, again, exceeded 200 reaching 213.52 km/h as “forerunner” of the 7. run of this competition, and establishing thus, the highest speed reached by a Spanish skier.->

New record:my good friend and valiant nephew, Ricardo Adarraga Schmid, bits again his Spanish record  of ski speed (kilometro lanzado) He reached  212.14 km/h. My congratulations Champ!

An interesting comment
:
Ricardo was talking, after the event, to the world champion Hembel (alias "mad cow") . He had his 3 years old son, Gorka, on
addressing to the champion exclaimed: I'm the best. To this the champion, addressing to Ricardo, graciously responded : That's a good start. He will go far.

Certificate. (FSV recognises as “official” record only speeds measured in competition by runners classified for the corresponding run (manga), that is, the speeds of “forerunners” are not registered. In Spain ski speed is not regulated by an official body)

Speed Ski (information, in Spanish,  supplied by email,
by Ricardo  Adarraga)

The” Speed Ski or just “KL” (for Kilometro Lanzado, in Spanish) is a fascinating sport in which three elements, technique, equipment and skill are combined at their maximum best. The present world record of 250.70 km/h is held by Frenchman, Phillipe Goitschel.

In Spain we are 2 fanatics of Speed Ski who have experience in International Competition. We are trying to interest the “Spanish Federation of Winter Sports” to assist us. Any help, institutional o sponsorship, would be welcome.

 Final Classification:

On the 15 April 2004, during the World Cup of Speed Ski, Ricardo Adarraga reached a speed of 197.48 km/h, a new Spanish record. It is the best speed reached by an Spaniard in en International Competition.

World Cup FIS, Salla, Finland.

Today, the 1st February, 2005, has returned Ricardo from  Salla, Finland, where he has competed, with the best international athletes of Speed Ski*. The run, hard enough for the duress involved , was complicated with a temperature at the start, of minus 30ºC and a wind against, of 15 km/h making, a "wind-chill" equivalent to minus 40ºC. Ricardo was the only competing Spaniard. For results click here.
